Hispanic Star Miami, IMC Health, Procter & Gamble, and partners reach thousands most impacted by COVID-19 in South Florida

— Hispanic Star Miami partners with IMC Health Medical Centers, P&G and other organizations to provide essential care products to over 20,000 families most impacted by COVID-19 so far this year —

MIAMI, FL - October 30, 2020 – (LATINX NEWSWIRE) - The Hispanic Star Miami hub mobilized at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to reach out to those most impacted in South Florida. The all-volunteer group of professionals organized and partnered with local and national organizations to launch initiatives that would mitigate some of the devastation affecting the most vulnerable in the community.

The first fundraising campaign launched by Hispanic Star Miami in April was directed at providing hot meals to over two thousand health care heroes at five hospitals in South Florida. This was also followed by a distribution of hand sanitizer and masks to five hospitals, thirteen clinics, and two retirement homes at a time when it was exceedingly difficult to source the much-needed supplies for health care workers. The positive impact and feedback of the initial outreach spurred Hispanic Star Miami to continue its efforts in partnership with local and national organizations like IMC Health Medical Centers, Proctor & Gamble, Matthew 25 Ministries, Health Foundation of South Florida, and more.

Monthly distribution of essential products has continued from Broward County all the way down to Homestead, FL and over 20,000 families have been impacted to date. IMC Health has taken the lead in providing resources of personnel, transportation, and warehousing for the millions of products donated by Proctor & Gamble.

“2020 has taken a devastating toll on many families and businesses in our community impacted by COVID-19. Reaching out, giving back, and helping in the recovery is the purpose behind the Hispanic Star Miami initiatives. We are grateful for the many volunteers, community, and national partners who have made this possible,” stated Carolina Veira, Director of Corporate Partnerships, IMC Health Medical Centers and Director, Hispanic Star Miami Hub.
